The best known tourist destination of Odisha- ‘KONARK TEMPLE’

In front of the Giant Wheel

Konark

The Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century Hindu temple dedicated to the Sun God. Shaped like a giant chariot, the temple is known for the exquisite stone carvings that cover the entire structure. It is the best-known tourist destination in Odisha and has been a World Heritage Site since 1984.

Konark is an architectural marvel of Eastern Odisha and also the symbol of India’s heritage. It is dedicated to the Sun god and holds a massive temple structure .  The word ‘Konark‘ is a combination of two words ‘Kona’ and ‘Arka’. It is also referred to as the ‘Black Pagoda‘ due to its dark colour and its magnetic power that drew ships into the shore and caused shipwrecks. The giant wheels which you see all around the temple were used to anticipate the day time back in those primitive days.

You may not find a lot of food options around but yeah, a sip of coconut water is truly recommended.

A MUST RECOMMENDED SPOT TO VISIT!!!
